That is MY BABY...
The moment
one would have seen this heading, one would have thought – well the writer is
probably going to tell us about some baby, some would predict may be it is
about baby of underprivileged one in our country, but to everyone’s surprise
this article talks about the baby of an artist. Many among us would be
wondering who baby of the artist? The simple answer for this is, no one would
have thought, for every artist his baby is the work that he produces. For
example articles for writers, story for editors, painting for the painters,
songs for the lyricist and so on. Every piece of art that they produce is a new
born baby for them.
When it’s
about a human baby, we compare our babies with other babies to check what is
that they have and we don’t and vice-versa. It is always very easy to find flaw
with other babies but hard to digest if it’s our baby who is been criticized or
punished. Same happens with artists, every artist compares their work with the
other to know what he/she is lacking and there is always an urge to beat others
by producing best work than others and their own last works. But have we ever
thought, what is our response to their years or couple of months struggle?
Never, so easily we take out flaws and speak about it and convince others as
well that why we found it waste of money and time.
Let’s talk
about the form of art that hasn’t left anyone’s life untouched – Movies. For a
director it takes at least a year to work on story and produce a good movie, he
has to cast the right person for the character he has created and have to keep
in mind the kind of audience he would be catering this movie to. But some of us
so easily make our views as soon as the trailers are released, and after the
movies are released and people come out of theatre they easily criticize the
movie or curse ourselves for wasting our money or either we love it. For many
among us story matters and many focus more on songs and cast. The hit or flop
of movie or for that matter any piece of art depends on the audience who is watching
and what the audience perceives from it. For us being audience and looking at
things is really easy but for the creators or the artist every flop art is
actually equal to the death of their baby.
We cannot
obviously stop the views and responses coming from the audience because at the
end that is what is growing and enhancing the skills of artist and makes them
understand what is acceptable and what is not. But then we as a audience should
get more sensitive towards these babies of the artist because somewhere an
artist within us also have his/her kids.
