Why the "josh" is so high around Vicky Kaushal's Uri The Surgical Strike?

Image
How's the josh? The slogan or let's say dialogue has become an emotion now, thanks to the recent release Uri The Surgical Strike. Starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, it would not be wrong to say that Uri evoked patriotic feelings in each one of us, either throughout the film or in some parts of it. But what made it become one of the blockbuster army-based films in the past few decades? Here are my reasons: While it is being touted as an out-and-out Vicky Kaushal film, for me, it purely stood out for the teamwork. The actors did bring every ounce of the script to life but without a tightly written script by Aditya Dhar (also the director) and impeccable cinematography by Mitesh Mirchandani, it would have been difficult to keep the audience (and me) glued to the seats. Battleground sequences were so well choreographed that in many moments, I felt as if I was a part of it. Though, I wish I could do a single percent of what these guys did on-screen. Really, ha...

The anonymous relationship

Image
I once had an anonymous relationship, beautiful and innocent as a newborn. soft and fragile, needed to be hidden, away from those malicious eyes. You know, these kinds of relationships Need patience, a lot of it, and sometimes, it goes in vain. Oh, the pain, You have no idea about it, let's not go there. You stand naked with all your truths to cover you but still, no one cares, And all you think is - Love is war, you have to be brave. I once had an anonymous relationship, with a guy I believed had loved me. He would say "Don't post about me" for various reasons, And now I know what he means, anonymous relationships do not have a tag in public, There is nothing to win or lose, Him and the pain or you and your freedom, you don't really get to choose. You have to be in a corner, cry your lungs out, Get the anonymity out of you through those eyes that shout loud, loud and clear that you are not the one to be blamed, to be shot at, or to be l...

Four More Shots Please review: Old narrative with a different perspective

Image
Sex sells. Maybe that is why some of the recent web-series' in India (to an extent) explore sex and the emotions around it in much descriptive, realistic and to an extent, obsessive manner. Four More Shots Please, starring Sayani Gupta, Kirti Kulhari, Maanvi Gagroo and VJ Bani, is no different. The web-series is a journey of four women coming from different walks of lives who happen to meet each other in a Truck Bar, which they assumed to be "Fuck Bar." Well, we leave it to you to explore the context behind the bar's name. Sayani (Damini Rizvi Roy) is a journalist, Kirti (Anjana Menon) is a single mother and a lawyer, Maanvi (Siddhi Patel) is too rich to do anything and VJ Bani ( Umang Singh) is a bi-sexual gym trainer. All four characters are completely messed up in some or the other way but one place where they destress themselves is the bar -- owned by the very handsome Prateik Babbar's character Jeh Wadia (who also is the bartender) -- and of cour...

My Lover

Image
I feel sad.  Wait, sad is too strong a word, Maybe jealous?  Yes, jealous it is.  I feel jealous when I see couples being all mushy mushy on social media platforms,  Or in real (I’ve been in their shoes, many times before.) I have the excessive urge of making my love for you social.  But I’m bounded.  Bounded by family that would not understand our love, you or me of choosing you out of 100s of those guys I pass by each day (a few of them really hot and marriage materials.)   Bounded by friends who look at me differently for dating you because they scan you for your money and not the gold you carry in your heart (which by the way, you should only and only store for me.)  Bounded by your profession that doesn’t click to any well educated family because - kitna hi kamata hoga - not knowing that I am ready to adjust in the name of love because I want to give birth to our love in human form one day and tell stories...

It takes a moment to quit

Maybe once again I’ve made a wrong move,   The Cupid has struck the wrong two, And it’s me who’s gotten the blues to my sky, It was never his fault.  Maybe once again I am the only one To feel the way I do and my charm is not really working on him,  As it should. Because when I look into his eyes, I see myself but his body retracts,  We are opposites and I thought we attract.  Maybe the night I thought is the most beautiful day of my life,  Was just a moment that happened and had no meaning at all.  Maybe me skipping a beat at his touch was just like that,  Him feeling the rush was just like that.  Our first kiss, maybe it was too  A moment of weakness, that I mistook for a yes to the question in my head,  And maybe, just maybe all of this was my fairytale that happened after too long but a short one with no happily ever after ahead.  Maybe I’m too quick to judge? As things do not rush ...

The handful of romance

Fingers intertwined like the words in our mind. Too much to ask, too much to understand.  I want to say ‘yes’ to a question he never asked,  He said ‘yes’ with his eyes to many romantic tales in my head.  We promised without words,  We held our hearts on palm and closed it, just for a moment.  Our love or like or whatever special that makes us feel butterflies,  Is sure to go away in some time.  Windows will blow away the love and bring reality to our notice,  But still we want to indulge and immerse ourselves to the feeling of happiness we have in our tummy, which reflects right on our face when our eyes meet.  We never boast of it to be love, Nor we are rushing to name or tag this.  There are doubts, inhibitions and fears, natural to build-up.  But there’s an unknown trust, varied emotions, and fear of losing each other. He wants her to know his scars, good and bad,  She speaks her heart ou...

They are always watching you

Being a girl in this country is not easy, They always watch you,  They always do!  Whether you wear full length clothes, Or shorts or nothing, They will watch you, and have words to tag you.  When you talk to guys, they judge you, When you don't, they judge you,  They say they love you, but they don't, They want to just restrict you, Cut your wings, throat, and then say we will watch you,  They will do,  As they don't want you to run away from their control. They will pat on your back, And then Bitch behind it, They will judge you for what you are,  And try to guess what you're trying to hide, And even if they don't find something to talk about,  They will call you good for nothing,  They love you as you give in to their demands, They will watch you because that gives them power, Power to rule over you. They question 'what's wrong' and try to be their for you,  A day after you know you...
